For the first time, the SIS published an order approving the lists of companies and persons who had relations with oligarchs subject to international sanctions in January 2024. More than 500 companies, foundations and citizens of Moldova were included in it at that time. Since then, the list has been regularly updated, new individuals have been added to it, and some have been excluded.
Now the list of persons connected with the fugitive oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc, who was recently detained in Greece, has been supplemented with the name of the former Minister of Justice Vladimir Cebotari, the founder of the Modern Democratic Party of Moldova (MDPM), the direct successor of the Democratic Party (PDM), which was in power in 2016-2019. Along with him, the list includes his wife Maria Cebotari and his sister Mariana Tabuica, who is the executive director of the Fly One airline.
Other legal entities linked to Plahotniuc include Fly One SRL, SanAir Service SRL, Logistic Int. SRL, H Kapitalz SRL, BMoney SRL, Impex Businesscom SRL, Bpay SRL and Cellitexh SRL.
By publishing this list, the SIS notifies the Moldovan state institutions that “restrictive measures” should be applied to the mentioned persons and companies. What exactly this wording implies and what kind of sanctions it implies is not specified.
