Since the beginning of this month, futures for rapeseed on the mentioned stock exchange in Paris have risen by only 3.1%, Ukragroconsult notes. And this is despite a powerful stimulus – a sharp rise in oil prices due to the war between Israel and Iran.
Moreover, the US intervention in the conflict and weak response to this fact from Iran has already converted into a decline in oil prices this week. However, the market dynamics in the global energy market is far from stabilizing. Especially since, at least, the situation with oil and gas transit through the Strait of Hormuz is aggravating and, literally, looks explosive. In any case, this will remain a factor of situational tension or relaxation for the market of energy crops, in particular, the oilseed group.
Until the last week of June, rapeseed futures were becoming more expensive, despite increased forecasts for the 2025 harvest in a number of EU countries, especially in Germany. In general, favorable weather conditions on the eve of the harvesting campaign are likely to reinforce the expectations of market operators of a good harvest of this crop. However, this circumstance may put downward pressure on prices.
Earlier, Logos Press reported that in Moldova, the agricultural area for the 2025 rape harvest has multiplied to about 100 thousand hectares. It is also known about the preparation of Floarea Soarelui SA, the largest oil and fat enterprise in the country, to launch at the beginning of the new season the processing of oilseed raw materials on rapeseed. Therefore, for the sake of the rhythm and continuity of the cycle of harvesting this raw material, it makes sense for local processors and farmers to agree on the price for it and, in general, on the terms of cooperation even before harvesting.
