
This is stated in a press release issued by the EU Council on April 28, 2025.These restrictive measures apply to a total of 16 individuals and two legal entities.
The persons on the sanctions list are subject to asset freezing measures. It is also prohibited to provide them with funds or economic resources, either directly or indirectly. In addition, listed individuals are subject to a travel ban that prevents them from entering and transiting the territory of EU member states.
The EU’s restrictive measures were introduced in April 2023 at the request of the Moldovan authorities “in order to prosecute persons responsible for supporting or implementing actions that undermine or threaten its sovereignty and independence, as well as democracy, the rule of law, stability or security of the country”.
The EU Council noted that it remains unwavering in its support for Moldova and its peace, sustainability, security, stability and economic growth in the face of destabilizing activities by external actors.
