EU approves 19th package of sanctions against Russia

As reports Bloomberg reports that the main package of sanctions is economic. First of all, they include a ban on imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from 2027 and are directed against another 117 ships of the “shadow fleet”.

“We are pleased to announce that all EU member states have said they are ready to withdraw their objections to the 19th package of sanctions. A written approval procedure has therefore been launched. If no objections are received, the package will be adopted by 8:00 a.m.,” is the message from the Danish EU presidency.

The new restrictions against Moscow were approved unanimously. Slovakia was one of the last countries to withdraw its objections. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was late for the meeting, so he gave his vote to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo.

The new restrictions are expected to ban any deals with Rosneft and Gazprom Neft, in addition to banning LNG imports. In addition, the price floor for Russian oil will be reduced.

Among other things, the 19th package of sanctions involves travel restrictions for Russian diplomats. The EU measures will affect 45 organizations, according to Brussels, which helped Russia circumvent sanctions, including 12 companies in China and Hong Kong. In addition, there will be a complete ban on transactions with five Russian banks and an expanded ban on transactions with Russian electronic payment systems and third-country banks in Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The restrictions are directed, among other things, against crypto exchanges and financial organizations in India and China.
