The Moldovan Government approved the signing of the relevant agreement with the French Development Agency (AFD) and authorized Energy Minister Dorin Jungiet to sign the document. The Energy Minister said that the project “Initiative for the Development of Sustainable Public Infrastructure through Energy Efficient Reconstruction (INSPIREE)” will be implemented for 5 years. It is planned to be implemented with a €30 million loan from the French Development Agency (AFD), as well as with a €38.7 million grant from Germany through the German Development Bank KfW. Another €4.3 million will be contributed by the Moldovan government.

Within the 73-million-euro project, energy renovation will be carried out in 16 universities, as well as in 14 hospitals from 9 districts. The implementation of the project will increase the comfort and functionality of public buildings, as well as improve conditions for students and teachers of universities, employees and patients of hospitals.

The project will be implemented by the Unified Unit for the Implementation of Energy Projects (UCIPE). The loan agreement with AFD is scheduled to be signed on March 11 in Paris within the visit of President Maia Sandu.
