On Monday, December 15, a Cooperation Agreement for the energy rehabilitation of nine strategic medical institutions was signed. The event took place within the framework of the INSPIREE project, the total investment in which is estimated at 73 million euros.

The investments are made with the support of development partners – the French Development Agency (AFD) and the German government in Moldova.

The project will last for five years and envisages the renovation of about 30 public buildings, with priority given to the medical sector.

The buildings of the Drochia district hospital “Nicolae Testemitanu”, the psychiatric hospital of Balti, the district hospitals of Floresti, Orhei, Falesti, Ungheni, Causeni and Cahula will undergo modernization.

Health Minister Emil Ceban emphasized the importance of the project for people, noting that quality medical care is impossible in inadequate conditions.

“For the Ministry of Health, this project means more than just energy efficiency. It means quality of medical care, patient safety, respect for doctors, nurses and all health care workers. The nine medical buildings included in this phase serve thousands of patients every day. Their energy renovation will create a stable, comfortable and safe environment for treatment,” said the Minister.

Hospitals should be places where people feel safe, secure and cared for, not buildings burdened by high energy bills, low thermal comfort and structural vulnerability,” emphasized French Ambassador Dominique Waag.

The project “Opportunity to develop sustainable public infrastructure through energy efficient renovation” (INSPIREE) is financed by the French Development Agency (AFD), the Government of Germany and the Government of the Republic of Moldova. The main objective is the thermal rehabilitation and modernization of energy systems of public buildings (hospitals, schools, kindergartens), which contributes to reducing carbon dioxide emissions and improving social conditions.
