According to the study of the National Bureau of Statistics on the structure of enterprises operating in Moldova in 2024, the mentioned enterprises employed 50.2% of the total number of employees in the sector. In total, the aggregate turnover of the sector amounted to 53.8 billion lei, with a total number of 11.7 thousand employees.
The second place in terms of concentration is occupied by water supply, waste treatment, rehabilitation works. In this sector, five enterprises out of 505 accounted for 51.4% of the turnover. These are Apă-Canal Chișinău, Autosalubritate, Metalferos, ABS and Apă-Canal Bălți. They employed almost 31.8% of the industry’s employees. In total, its turnover amounted to 3.1 billion lei and the total number of employees was 8.8 thousand people.
In the IT and communication sector, Orange Moldova, Moldtelecom, Moldcell, State Services Agency and Endava accounted for 50.8% of the turnover. The top five companies in this sector employ 23.3% of the sector’s employees. Its total turnover in 2024 amounted to about 34.4 billion lei. There are 3.1 thousand enterprises with 30.2 thousand employees.
The concentration of large enterprises is also noted in 2024 in the field of transportation and storage (Fly One, Hisky, Chisinau International Airport, Regia Transport Electric and Vestmoldtransgaz), accommodation and catering (Trabo-Plus (Andy’s Pizza/La Placinte), Food Planet Restaurants (McDonald’s), Leogrand Hotel, FSS Invest (Mariott) and Deea House (Granier), wholesale and retail trade and maintenance (Moldretail Group, Lukoil-Moldova, Rompetrol Moldova, Imensitate and Dita Estfarm).
Energocom, Moldretail Group, Moldovagaz, Rompetrol Moldova and Lukoil Moldova are among the top 5 companies in terms of turnover in 2024.
