Elena Erygina (Kylchik) defeated her rivals in both events of the program – snatch and jerk. She conquered the total weight of 242 kg. The best performance of the 28-year-old weightlifter in the snatch was 106 kg, in the jerk – 136 kg.
Thus, the Moldovan athlete brought Moldova the only big gold medal in the overall standings at the European Championship, held for the first time in Moldova. In total, she won three gold medals – one big and two small (for the best performance in individual program events).
The final 2nd place was taken by Ilke Lagru from Belgium (238 kg), 3rd place – by Weronika Zielinska from Poland (238 kg). Zielinska won a small silver medal in snatch (105 kg), while Lagru won a small bronze medal (104 kg). In the jerk, the athletes exchanged positions – the Belgian weightlifter was second (134 kg) and the Polish athlete was third (132 kg).
Elena Yerygina (Kilchik), a native of Gagauzia, is the European champion (2025), 2-time silver medalist (2021, 2024) and bronze medalist (2023) of continental championships.
