The project includes the construction of three production halls with a total area of more than 3,000 m², dedicated to the production of wiring and connection systems used in 14 industries including medical, artificial intelligence, rail transportation and renewable energy.

These investments confirm that Moldova’s electronics sector is becoming attractive to investors from Western countries and is playing an increasingly important role in Moldovan exports. According to UN Comtrade, between 2019 and 2024, Moldova’s exports of electrical equipment and components to the EU amounted to $3.37 billion, representing more than 90% of the sector’s total exports.

The expansion of Cornelius Electronics’ production was made possible thanks to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Investment Agency, Innovate Moldova and the municipality of Edinet. It provides for changes in the infrastructure plan of the industrial park and allows the expansion of existing workshops.

“Cornelius Electronics is an example of how international expertise can be integrated into the local industrial ecosystem. We are pleased that after several years of successful operations in Moldova, Cornelius Electronics is able to attract even more customers for their products, allowing them to expand their investments in the country,” said Natalia Bejan, Director of the Investment Agency.

“With our investment in the Edineț Industrial Park, we are contributing to the transformation of the entire northern region. Each new workshop creates dozens of jobs, contributes to the prosperity of local communities and increases the competitiveness of the national economy based on engineering, innovation and modern, export-oriented production,” said Sergiu Rabii, Innovate Moldova program director.

“Cornelius Electronics SRL is a growing business based on enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to bring real value to customers. Through continuous investment in technology, state-of-the-art equipment and staff training, we have strengthened our position as a trusted partner in an industry undergoing transformation. Our mission remains unchanged: high quality services, continuous innovation and total customer satisfaction,” said Diana Popovic, Managing Director of Cornelius Electronics SRL.

Cornelius Electronics currently employs 81 employees, more than 80% of whom are women. All products are intended for export and are oriented towards industrial customers in the European Union.

These investments are part of the positive dynamics of bilateral economic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the United Kingdom, based on the Strategic Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Agreement signed on December 24, 2020.

According to the National Bank of Moldova, British direct investment has grown from $78.8 million in 2009 to over $257 million in 2024, concentrated in high value-added sectors – IT, electronics, agribusiness and services.

Currently, 235 companies with British capital operate in Moldova, with total equity investments amounting to about 840 million lei.
