To this end, the Government on May 14 approved the signing of the relevant amendments to the EBRD Agreement. The financing is for the development of Waste Management Region 1, which includes the districts of Cahul, Cantemir, Taraclia, Comrat and Vulcanesti under the Municipal Solid Waste in the Republic of Moldova project.

The amendments will ensure efficient and sustainable implementation of the planned investments in waste management infrastructure.

Also today, the government approved a draft decision on the launch of negotiations and signing of an amendment No. 2 to a financing agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB), worth 25 million euros. This is needed to extend the implementation term of the project “Municipal Solid Waste in Moldova” by two years, until October 18, 2026.

The amendment also introduces some technical clarifications and extends the deadline for submitting documentation to the EIB, without incurring any additional costs for the state budget or changing Moldova’s financial commitments.
