EBRD starts negotiations on the sale of Giurgiulesti port

It is Moldova’s main sea and river trading port with integrated multimodal connectivity through river, road and rail networks.

Following a competitive bidding process, the Bank has now commenced negotiations with shortlisted applicants. The interest received from regional and international applicants reflects the port’s key role in Moldova’s economy. It handles over 70% of the country’s imports and exports by water, providing supply chains and significant benefits to the country’s economy.

“The Bank is working closely with its advisors to ensure that the selected investor brings the necessary experience and long-term commitment to further develop the port’s infrastructure and operations,” the financial institution said in a press release.

The ongoing M&A process is conducted in coordination with the Moldovan government to ensure compliance with national legislation.
