EBRD allocates €10 million to support entrepreneurship

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in partnership with the European Union, is providing a new financial package of 10 million euros to OTP Bank Moldova under the EU4Business-EBRD credit line, Logos Press reports.

EBRD allocates €10 million to support entrepreneurship

This new funding will provide investment support to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) across Moldova, helping them to modernize technology and equipment, improve standards and increase competitiveness in both the domestic and EU markets. The initiative also promotes EU standards in the Moldovan market, fostering sustainable growth and innovation.

The EU4Business-EBRD credit line, through loans and grants, is designed to help MSMEs improve their competitiveness and capacity both in the domestic market and in exports. Including to EU countries.

EU4Business umbrella initiative includes all EU support to SMEs in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

Since 2016, OTP Bank Moldova has successfully placed such loans worth €70 million, enabling enterprises to modernize their operations and implement best practices. At least 70% of these investments were “green”, focusing on energy efficiency and environmentally friendly technologies.

MSMEs account for 98% of all business in Moldova and employ 60% of the country’s workers.
