Eastern European cities lead in the rating of safety for tourists

A study by international tour operator Riviera Travel has shown that cities from Eastern Europe dominate in the ranking of the safest cities for tourists in the TOP-10(see table), Euronews notes. “Cities such as Dubrovnik and Tallinn have managed to preserve their medieval heritage while striking a balance between safety and comfort for tourists and residents,” the publication writes.

Riviera Travel’s Safety Index takes into account the increase in crime in a place over the past five years and the current state of crime.

“The ranking confirms that Europe offers tourists rich culture, beauty, as well as unrivaled safety. From the medieval charm of Dubrovnik to the incredible spires of Prague and picturesque Zurich, the safest European destinations will allow for free and relaxed travel,” Joanna Lynn, Riviera Travel’s Head of European Product, commented in an interview with Euronews Travel.

Unfortunately, Moldova and its cities are not included in the tour operator’s research, which is focused on compiling an index of only the most popular routes among Europeans.
