Dmitry Alaiba
A rather informed source told Logos Press that Dimitri Alaiba is very likely to be sent as Moldova’s ambassador to the USA. Recently, it was reported that the new U.S. authorities demanded that the current Moldovan ambassador to Washington, Viorel Ursa, be replaced. Although the MFAEI denied these allegations, the head of the Moldovan diplomatic mission in the USA has been at home for quite a long time.
According to our source, the candidacy of Dmitri Alaiba for the post of the new ambassador to the USA was considered a couple of months ago. But the country’s leadership took the idea without much enthusiasm. As an alternative, he was offered to become Moldova’s ambassador to Japan.
Probably, now there is certainty in these plans. Without this, Dmitri Alaiba hardly left the post of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization. At the same time, his desire to become ambassador to the United States is likely to become a reality. This is indirectly evidenced by the scatterings of gratitude to the first persons of the state in his post in social networks.
“Today I am going to my last cabinet meeting,” Alaiba wrote on the morning of March 13. – It has been 2.5 years of tremendous work, during which I have given all my knowledge and energy to move forward. Now the next step is needed, I will continue to serve the interests of the country as long as it takes and wherever I am. I will continue to support President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean and the government team, thanking them for their trust. We have laid the foundation for economic stability, and at this stage, I believe a new impetus is needed to accelerate the processes initiated to ensure economic growth”.
At the beginning of Thursday’s cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Dorin Recean praised Dmitri Alaiba’s work at the head of the ministry.
