This is stipulated by the Memorandum of Cooperation on the launch of a pilot project for the modernization of railway and road transport, signed by “Railways of Moldova”, the state enterprise “Directorate for Real Estate Management” and the National Agency of Road Transport with the international payment system Visa.
The aim of the project is that in the medium term the software will be voluntarily implemented by as many operators as possible for contactless processing of ticket purchases on buses and trains. The implementation of the system will provide passengers with access to up-to-date information on timetables and seat availability, as well as to different payment methods: by bank card, mobile device or cash.
In parallel with the pilot project, a mobile application developed with the support of Visa will be launched, which will make it possible to quickly and securely purchase tickets directly from a cell phone, without the need to visit ticket offices. Another important task is to ensure a high level of transparency and taxation, as well as correct and uniform application of fares.
The expansion of the project will depend on the results of the pilot phase.
