The accelerated transformations brought about by the development of the IT sector, innovation and the digital economy are changing the functioning of society and the global economy. However, these complex areas are often insufficiently covered or explained in local media, which play an important role in informing and educating the public, argues the idea of opening the School in the MITP press release.

To promote a better understanding of these topics and improve the quality of journalistic reporting on technology and innovation, a structured platform for dialog, training and cooperation between media representatives and experts from the technology and innovation ecosystem is being created for the first time at the national level.

How the training will be organized

The MITP Digital Media School will include monthly trainings and presentations from April to September 2026. Each meeting will be organized by a company or organization from the IT and innovation ecosystem of the Republic of Moldova.

The program provides journalists with an opportunity to learn from the inside how the technology industry works, how digital products and services are developed, and how the technology sector contributes to the transformation of the modern economy of the Republic of Moldova, which is becoming increasingly visible and competitive on the world stage.

Classes will include thematic presentations and interactive discussions with industry experts, exclusive tours of IT companies, as well as opportunities for interviews, videotaping and first photo opportunities. Participants will have direct access to startup founders, IT experts and international investors, learning valuable insights into global trends in technology and innovation. Journalists will be able to identify and tell authentic and inspiring stories about digital transformation and the development of the technology sector, bringing the realities and opportunities of the digital economy closer to the public.

What is required of participants

Participation in the MITP Digital Media School requires the active involvement of journalists. After each session, participants should prepare at least one journalistic piece, which can be an article, photo and/or video report, interview, etc. The materials will reflect the topics discussed during the sessions and the experience gained during the sessions.

The program will conclude with a contest dedicated to the best journalistic materials created within the MITP School of Digital Media. The impact of the material, creativity, relevance of the topic, quality of journalism and reflection of the IT and innovation ecosystem will be evaluated.

All journalists will receive certificates of participation and the authors of the best stories will win a trip to Web Summit Lisbon 2026, one of the most important global events dedicated to technology and innovation. Each year, the event attracts more than 70,000 participants, over 1,000 international speakers, technology, AI and startup leaders, global investors and companies.
