As noted in the National Agency for Energy Regulation, after a small attempt at recovery in late April, fuel prices are falling again.
This is happening against the background of several factors. First, the unexpected decision of OPEC (The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) to increase oil production by 411 thousand barrels per day from June 1. The decision was made after a similar increase had already been applied in May. Secondly, the US dollar, whose official exchange rate has reached the level of November 2020, is depreciating.
That is why for the next four days (May 9-12), ANRE set the following maximum retail prices for basic standard oil products: COR 95 gasoline – 22.26 lei/liter (- 2 bani), and standard diesel – 18.25 lei/liter (- 6 bani).
The National Agency noted that it continues to monitor developments on international oil exchanges. It is specified that the current mechanism of price formation is extremely transparent.
