The relevant draft of the PDS faction deputies has been registered in the Parliament. As the authors argue, this customs regime has contributed to the growth of renewable electricity generation capacity. The proven support tool will stimulate additional investments in the industry and contribute to the reduction of emergency electricity purchases.

Since solar power production often exceeds demand from March through September, they propose to provide incentives to importers of batteries used for energy storage installations. In particular, deferral of payment of import rights for up to 20 months, release of goods into free circulation without the need to provide a guarantee for the period of deferral, etc.

The authors also propose to exclude lithium-ion batteries intended for energy storage from the Combined Commodity Nomenclature, exempting them from customs duty (5%).

And in order to more accurately reflect the cost structure of the sector (import/export of electricity), to prevent distortion of the mechanism of return on investment, as well as to reduce price fluctuations, it is proposed to replace the settlement currency from US dollars to EUR/MDL. As noted in the draft, this currency pair is considered more adequate for the energy sector.
