The statement was made during meetings of the delegation of the Danish Parliament’s Foreign Policy Committee, which is on a visit to Chisinau.

The delegation is headed by the committee’s chairman, Christian Friis Bach. According to the Danish embassy, the visit is focused on discussing Moldova’s foreign and defense policy, its European course, as well as on the consolidation of bilateral relations.

Investment opportunities

In Chisinau, Folketing members held meetings with President Maia Sandu, MPs from different factions and government representatives.

Maia Sandu highlighted the importance of Denmark’s support to Moldova and Ukraine, emphasizing that Ukraine’s sustainability contributes to peace and stability in the region.

At the meeting with the deputy parliamentary speaker, head of the Foreign Policy Commission, Doina German, the sides discussed parliamentary cooperation, Moldova’s European course and the possibility of attracting Danish investments in the renewable energy sector, agriculture, education and technologies.

“These are areas that can bring jobs and sustainable development to our country,” German said.

Reintegration and diplomacy

The program of the visit also included a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chivere, where the situation in the Transnistrian region and measures to support its inhabitants were discussed.

“The economic and social reintegration of Transnistrian residents is showing significant progress and is an important catalyst for the rapprochement of the two banks of the Dniester,” Chivere said.

As Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihail Popşoi is on a European tour, the Danish delegation was received at the Foreign Ministry by State Secretary Valeriu Mizha. The sides confirmed their interest in deepening the political dialogue and developing cooperation in such fields as energy, digitalization and investments.

Almost simultaneously, a delegation of members of the Lithuanian Seimas Foreign Affairs Committee, headed by the committee’s chairman, Remigijus Motuzas, is on a visit to Moldova.
