
The cookies were detected as part of control measures carried out in accordance with the Annual Program for Monitoring the Safety and Quality of Food Products of Non-Animal Origin. The violation was detected as a result of laboratory analyses showing an excess of the maximum permissible level of trans fatty acids, as well as inconsistencies in nutritional information, including the absence of mandatory data on the label.
To protect consumers, a decision was made to officially seize the non-compliant batch of products. Fortunately, the cookies did not enter the trade and were not sold to consumers, but in small quantities and under control were used as fish feed.
At the direction of ANSA inspectors, the economic operator took measures to eliminate the identified violations, including verification of the production process and information provided to consumers.
The Agency encourages consumers to check information on food labels and report any violations.
