
The water pipeline with a total length of more than 50 km will connect the central water supply system of Chisinau with the towns of Straseni and Calarasi, providing at the first stage more than 35 thousand inhabitants of these towns. Overall, the project will provide access to drinking water for 170,000 people.
In addition to the construction of the water main, it is planned to build a pumping station in Tuzar, as well as to rehabilitate the reservoirs in Straseni, Niscani and Calarasi.
Apa-Canal Chisinau JSC is also involved in the project, which will become the operator of the future water pipeline and supplier of drinking water for regional operators.
The construction of the Chisinau-Straseni-Călăraşi water pipeline is part of the project “Improvement of Water Infrastructure in Central Moldova”, implemented by the Regional Development Agency Center and financed by the German Government through the KfW Development Bank.
The total cost of the project is 45 million euros, of which 40 million euros is in the form of a grant and 5 million euros will be provided by the Moldovan Cabinet of Ministers.
