Citizens’ interest in government bonds is growing

This is almost twice as much as the amount of citizens’ investments in the previous month. According to the Ministry of Finance, during the ten days of subscription 587 transactions were made by 468 investors. That confirms the growing interest of the population to this reliable instrument of saving and investing. Moreover, the interest rate on SS is fixed and tax-free, and payments are made twice a year, directly to the bank account of investors, noted specialists of the Ministry.

In terms of investment structure, the majority of subscriptions were directed to government bonds with a maturity of 2 years (interest rate 6.80%). They attracted funds totaling 21,704,500 lei. The acquisitions were made by 288 investors through 321 transactions. At the same time, through government bonds with a maturity of 3 years (interest rate 7.00%), 266 deals were made by 232 investors for a total of 6,810,300 lei.

From April 2025, the Ministry of Finance will organize monthly SS issues, offering the population the possibility to invest permanently under more favorable conditions than those offered by commercial banks.

The next subscription round will take place between November 3 and November 12, 2025. The calendar of new rounds of SS placements with a description of the conditions of each issue is available at eVMS.md.
