The head of the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri, Brigadier General Dumitru Scurtu, emphasized that the unit is already staffed with 38 professional personnel, including 6 officers and 32 sub-officers. It will serve the districts of Edinet, Ocnita, Briceni and Donduseni, a region with a population of over 270,000 people. Similar companies will be created throughout the Republic of Moldova. In addition to the mobile company in Edinet, three more are planned to be established in 2026.
“This year has been very difficult: for the third year in a row we are involved in election campaigns, there is a war nearby, and we are obliged to be close to civil society and law enforcement bodies to prevent destabilization in the country,” Scurtu said.
Interior Minister Daniela Misail-Nikitin emphasized that the company will be involved in a wide range of tasks: to support all structures of the Interior Ministry – police, firefighters, border police, General Inspectorate for Migration, as well as other structures ensuring public order and security.
“Its mission is to maintain and restore public order, respond to emergency calls via 112, support colleagues in protecting the state border and participate in crime prevention.”
Recall that in March, the Parliament amended the Law on the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri, which envisaged, among other things, the creation of five mobile rapid response companies: in Causeni, Cahul, Ungheni, Orhei and Edinet. The reaction time should be reduced to a maximum of 15 minutes. In addition, the law stipulated the division of competences between the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri, which is responsible for ensuring and restoring public order and security, and the General Inspectorate of Police, which is responsible for maintaining them.
