
These volumes cover current consumption with continuous supplies to consumers, the need to balance and cover peak consumption loads, storage obligations in accordance with regulatory requirements, and an insurance reserve as a protection measure in exceptional situations, the company’s final report for 2025 specifies.
At the same time, Energocom has fully utilized the 20 million euro grant provided by the European Union to meet the gas needs of the Transnistrian region. From these funds, approximately 26.5 million cubic meters of natural gas were purchased between February 1 and February 10, 2025, in accordance with the requests of the company Tiraspoltransgaz and Regulation No. 7 of the Commission for Emergency Situations. The purchase transactions were carried out on the stock exchanges of Romania and Bulgaria in accordance with the legal provisions and regulatory requirements.
An important step for the company this year was the assumption of the role of supplier with the obligation to provide public services starting from September 1, 2025, according to ANRE Decision No. 479 of August 4, 2025. As of this date, Energocom became a natural gas supplier with public service obligation and a supplier of last resort.
In addition, the company signed its first long-term 3-year sales agreement with OMV Petrom, one of the energy market leaders in the region. Under this agreement, the company purchased natural gas from the strategic Neptun Deep project, the largest gas project in the Black Sea and the first deepwater offshore project in Romania. Neptun Deep’s reserves are estimated at approximately 100 billion cubic meters, and deliveries were to be made through a virtual trading point in Romania, ensuring a constant flow of natural gas to Moldova and contributing to the country’s energy security.
