In this regard, the leadership of the National Association of Beekeepers of Moldova ANARM continues to appeal to the government with requests for urgent assistance in order not to lose a significant part of their business. As ANARM executive director Ion Maxim notes, back in late July, within the framework of the meeting of the Advisory Council on Beekeeping under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry MAIA, beekeepers were promised assistance, the amount of which was tentatively estimated at 36 million lei by specialists of the Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture AIPA.
This amount is likely to be approximately the amount of sugar, which can be purchased and distributed as feed (at the rate of 10 kg per bee family in apiaries authorized by the Food Safety Agency ANSA). The option of distributing cash assistance to beekeepers through AIPA as decided by the Disaster Commission was also considered.
Logos Press wrote that this week, the Commission for Emergency Situations (CES), chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, approved the allocation of 100 million lei from the state reserve fund for farmers affected by late spring frosts. These funds will be distributed among horticulturists, winegrowers and sugar beet producers. ANARM beekeepers hope that the authorities’ contribution to overcoming the crisis provoked by weather anomalies will not be limited to this.
