The new production facility has already created more than 250 jobs and is expected to create about 200 more in the near future, contributing significantly to the economic development of the region.
The plant produces a wide range of materials for construction and high-tech industries.
“These include fiberglass meshes for facades and mosaics; Schleiftex fiberglass grinding wheels; Aquapanel panel meshes; Phoenix technical fabrics for roofing and Laintex membranes; and Ortex and Kanaltex composite fabrics used in high-tech industrial sectors,” the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization explained.
BauTex Composites is a subsidiary of the German concern BauTex-Stoffe. It was registered in Moldova in 2021 and became a resident of the Free Economic Zone “Balti” at the same time.
“The BauTex Composites company established in Moldova is the third company of the BauTex-Stoffe Group outside Germany (two more operate in Russia and Poland), but the second in terms of size, number of employees and production volume,” said Achim Lütter, administrator of BauTex Composites.
Marin Ciobanu, chief administrator of FEZ “Balti”, said: “This investment for Moldova is unique in two ways. Firstly, such a high-tech production of fabrics and fiberglass products has never been in our country before. And it expands the range of goods produced in the country. Secondly, and this is very important, BauTex-Stoffe company is a partner of famous world brands in foreign markets, some of which have been residents of FEZ “Balti” for many years. This means that part of the products manufactured by BauTex Composites will be supplied to our residents, reducing at least the logistics costs for the participants of this production chain. Thus, by becoming a resident of the FEZ, BauTex Composites has paved the way for other foreign investors, who cooperate abroad with enterprises that are our residents, to think about opening their production facilities in Moldova”.
Bautex-stoffe has been a contract textile brand since 1964. The company produces an extensive range of flame retardant products, which includes a wide range of blackout fabrics, flame retardant decorative fabrics, upholstery fabrics and curtain fabrics.
