Speaking during a joint press statement with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade, the Azerbaijani leader noted Serbia’s reformist progress and its growing attractiveness for foreign investors, Caliber.Az reported citing state media.
“It is precisely as a result of the reforms carried out that many countries, including Azerbaijan, are ready to actively invest in Serbia,” President Aliyev said.
He noted that construction and reconstruction of power plants, as well as their modernization ensure the future development of each country. The Azerbaijani leader also confirmed plans to increase gas supplies to Serbia.
“Our relations in the energy sector are developing in a multifaceted way. We have recently started exporting natural gas to Serbia, and today we have decided that we will increase the volume of these supplies,” Aliyev said.
The President emphasized that by converting gas exported to Serbia into electricity, it is possible to achieve production of clean electricity. This will create opportunities both for the Serbian market and for future exports,” the head of state emphasized.
Not only energy
Emphasizing the political dimension of bilateral ties, President Aliyev noted the constant mutual support between the two countries.
“Serbia and Azerbaijan are two friendly countries that always support each other,” President Aliyev noted.
The publication also notes that Baku-Belgrade direct flights are planned to be launched from May 2026, which will strengthen tourism and business ties.

For his part, the Serbian president said he believes in “strategic partnership and further concrete and measurable results of work.” According to him, these results contribute to the prosperity of Serbia and Azerbaijan, as well as the stability of the region with mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
