Inspectors from the National Road Transport Agency (ANTA), in collaboration with the National Inspectorate of Public Security, continued monitoring and control activities throughout the country from February 26 to March 5, 2026. These activities responded to numerous petitions and complaints from citizens who reported non-compliance with legal provisions by some road transport operators and drivers.
Based on the results of the inspections, the inspectors drew up 110 protocols on violations concerning various aspects of the current legislation. The most frequent violation was the transportation of people for a fee without permits or mandatory transportation documents. For this violation, 56 sanctions were applied, with fines for individuals ranging from 30 to 60 conventional units.
Failure to issue travel tickets remains another serious problem. In this regard, 45 drivers were issued protocols with fines of up to 60 conventional units. Sanctions were also imposed for non-compliance with the routes and departure times set in the timetables, as well as for cases of repeated illegal transportation, where the fines are much higher and reach 550 U.S. dollars.
Passenger safety was also in the center of attention, serious violations of drivers’ work and rest regime were revealed. In such situations severe sanctions are applied, legal entities face fines of up to 450 USD. At the same time, control was also directed to the responsibility of bus stations, where vehicles leaving with passengers without tickets were detected and penalized.
The monitoring and control measures will continue until March 12, 2026. The priority goal of these inspections is to guarantee safe and quality transportation services for passengers, as well as to ensure fair competition between road transport operators.
