The draft submitted for public consultation includes new product categories including herbal and chemical preparations, cosmetics, plastics, precious metal products and other groups.
The document clarifies the procedure for control of goods at ANSA border posts – it introduces separate chapters for products of plant origin, alcoholic beverages, chemicals, essential oils, perfumes and cosmetics, as well as products made of rubber, plastic and jewelry materials. Exemptions from control are also established for plants and products intended for scientific purposes, as well as for goods in passengers’ personal luggage, small parcels and pets.
Separately, the document regulates the import of food products and feed from countries affected by the Chernobyl accident, defines the list of such countries and the types of products subject to mandatory inspection when imported into Moldova.
According to the authors of the draft, the document will strengthen the ANSA control at the border and increase the level of supervision over the internal market. Consultations on the draft are being held until November 11.
