In the small final, the 24-year-old from the village of Serecica Veke, Leova district, defeated Irina Kolyadenko from Ukraine 6-3. Prior to that, she had three bouts, two of which she won (over Palestine and Turkey’s Ayla Mayala and Kadrie Aksa Kocak, respectively), but was defeated 0:10 in the semifinals by Japan’s Miwa Morikawa.

Morikawa, Ryngach’s offender, became the world champion in the under-65kg category. In the grand final she defeated Russia’s Alina Kasabieva, who competed under a neutral flag. The second bronze medal was won by Enkjin Tuvshinjargal of Mongolia.

Ryngach was the 2021 world champion, she is also a two-time European champion (2021, 2022), twice won silver at the European Championships (2023, 2025), won bronze medals at the World Championships (2022) and European Championships (2024).

The World Championships in Zagreb, which will last until September 21, will be attended by 18 Moldovan athletes: nine freestyle wrestlers, seven Greco-Roman wrestlers and two girls.
