Sonic will fulfill this function in parallel with his duties at maib. The appointment comes in the context of the launch of the International Exchange of Moldova and the initial stages of its development.
Recall that the exchange was officially registered on December 15, 2025. The structure was created in order to diversify the sources of financing for companies and facilitate access to investments, including the strengthening of links with the financial markets in the region.
The executive management of the International Exchange of Moldova includes Veronica Arpintin (CEO) and Andrian Iastremschi.
The Board of Directors of the International Exchange of Moldova consists of shareholder representatives and one independent member: Alexandru Sonic, Chairman of the Board of Directors, representative of credit sector investors; Paul Dogaru, representative of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, Andrei Plamadiala, representative of non-credit sector investors, Dumitru Vicol, independent member, and Dorin Recean, former Prime Minister, representative of the State Property Agency.
Equity capital structure of the International Exchange of Moldova:
– Bucharest Stock Exchange – 26.67%;
– State Property Agency – 20%;
– Donaris Vienna Insurance Group – 11.67%;
– maib – 10%;
– GRAWE Carat Insurance – 10%;
– Moldindconbank – 6.67%;
– MK Kredit Company – 5%;
– OTP Bank Moldova – 3.33%;
– Moldcell – 3.33%.
The Exchange plans to apply for a market operator license to the National Commission for Financial Markets (CNPF) on March 30, 2026.
