
During the tournament, Paraskiv defeated opponents from India and Mongolia. In the 1/4 finals, the 26-year-old representative of the Chisinau boxing school knocked out Bob Turyatemba from Uganda and advanced to the semifinals.
In the first round of the fight with the Olympic champion Asadzhuja Muydinkhujaev (Uzbekistan), the Moldovan athlete knocked down his opponent, but failed to achieve the result achieved in the previous round. The judges decided to award the victory to the representative of Uzbekistan with the score 5:0.
Muydinkhujaev has an opportunity to defend his title against Russia’s Evgeny Kool, scheduled for the evening of December 12. He defeated Armenia’s Hovhannes Bachkov in the semifinals to win his second bronze medal.
Paraskiv won a medal at the World Championships for the first time in his career. He is the reigning European vice-champion. In addition to the medal, the athlete received a certificate for $75 thousand. The athlete will receive 50% of this amount, 25% will be sent to coaches and national specialized federations.
IBA World Boxing Championships are held in Dubai (UAE) until December 13. The prize fund of the tournament has become a record – $8.3 million, which is 60% more compared to the world championship in 2024. The tournament is attended by representatives of 120 countries. Moldova is represented by eight athletes.
