The price is equivalent to the price set in the last auction held in the regulated market between May 12 and May 23, 2025.
According to the cabinet decision, the Finance Ministry will allocate the necessary amount to the ACS, and 1.3 million lei will be allocated from the government’s reserve fund to cover expenses related to the acquisition and resale of shares.
The stake will be offered for sale on the regulated market of the Stock Exchange of Moldova through public trading in a single block. The initial sale price will include the acquisition cost and all expenses incurred by the ASG.
The government also approved a draft preliminary agreement with the potential buyer Vienna Insurance Group AG, which already has the preliminary approval of the National Bank of Moldova to buy the shares. However, other potential buyers, who have the necessary approval from the NBM, will be able to participate in the auction on equal terms.
AGS General Director Roman Cojuhari was authorized to sign the preliminary contract, the share purchase agreement, as well as other relevant documents for this transaction.
S.A. “Moldasig” has a market share of 15.4% and operates with approximately 600 employees with a portfolio of over 170,000 clients. In 2023, the company has accumulated gross premiums worth almost 500 million lei, thus positioning itself among the leaders of the relevant market.
The offer to sell 80% of Moldasig’s shares was first made in 2017, but so far all five sale attempts have failed, with no investor identified. If the shares are not sold by June 2025, when the last legal opportunity to sell expires, the company will be forced to buy them back from its own sources, which could lead to a reduction in capital and loss of license.
