Adil Osmanov is the best Moldovan judoka in the IJF ranking

The International Judo Federation (IJF) has published an updated ranking with 14 Moldovan athletes in TOP-50, Logos Press reported.

Besides the rankings among adults, the rankings among juniors and cadets, which include young Moldovan judokas, were also updated.

Best among adults

The highest position among judoists representing Moldova is occupied by Adil Osmanov. In the weight category up to 73 kg he is on the 18th place, having in his asset 2.066 points. The bronze medalist of the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris (France) last year. was the winner of the Summer Universiade in the Rhein-Ruhr region of Germany, thus significantly strengthening his position.

Another bronze medalist of the last Summer Games, Denis Vieru, is ranked 29th among the athletes in the 66 kg category. He has 1.488 points on his balance. Last year the judoka won a silver medal at the Grand Slam stage in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Victor Sterpu, who finished third at the Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi (UAE), ranked 24th in the 81 kg category, he has 1.742 points. Mikhail Latyshev, who became a silver medalist at the same tournament, is only on the 48th position in the category up to 90 kg (1.007 points).

Vadim Gimbovsky, who won bronze at the European Youth Championships at home, is ranked 36th in the under 90 kg category (1.173 points). Petru Pelivan is 37th among judokas up to 81 kg (1.295 points).

Future generation of judoists

Among juniors (U-19) there are two Moldovan athletes – Vladimir Iacomi, who is 16th in the category up to 60 kg (142 points) and Renat Croitoru, who is 17th among his peers up to 73 kg (195 points).

There are four of our girls in the Cadet (U-17) rankings. Alexandra Kiron – 12th in the category up to 52 kg (160 points), Maria Rusu – 31st among athletes up to 63 kg (64 points), Yana Pritulyak – 33rd in the category up to 48 kg (64 points), Ksenia Vainer – 41st among cadets up to 48 kg (52 points).

Two young Moldovan judokas are also represented – Nelu Malik in 14th place among athletes up to 55 kg (124 points) and Ovidiu Gincescu, 41st in the category up to 50 kg (52 points).
