To this end, at a meeting held on 21 May, the government approved the signing of a loan agreement between Moldova and the Council of Europe’s Development Bank. The matter concerns the granting of a 30-million-euro loan to Moldova. With this money, the authorities intend to expand the network of exemplary schools in the country.
The financing will ensure the restoration of 15 schools and the improvement of the adjacent territories. In particular, energy efficiency measures will be implemented and access to the buildings will be ensured for people with limited mobility. Communications, including water supply and sewerage networks, will also be replaced.
These measures will contribute to the creation of a safe learning environment and increase the participation of children from vulnerable groups in the educational process. At the same time, the project will contribute to the attraction and retention of teachers in the system, especially in rural areas. A total of 90 model schools will be established in Moldova in all districts and municipalities of the country.
Thanks to the implemented works, about 13 thousand students and 800 teachers will have more comfortable conditions in schools.
The Model Schools Network is a project of the Ministry of Education and Research, within which schools in Moldova will be modernized both in terms of infrastructure and teaching methods.
