A multimodal hub will be built in Chisinau

DP World announced the launch of a pan-European logistics service, including a strategic multimodal hub in Chisinau, connecting Moldova with Romania and the rest of Europe. The groupage transportation service brings together all stages of the supply chain, integrating road, sea, air, rail and multimodal transportation, providing a complete end-to-end solution. This initiative supports Moldovan companies by offering them better access to European markets through faster and more cost-effective logistics.

By efficiently managing the supply chain and improving operational performance, DP World focuses on customer satisfaction to reduce costs and speed up delivery times, while ensuring transparency at every stage.

DP World’s network will include a “prefabricated freight line” and customs infrastructure in Chisinau. The prefreight system will combine small shipments from different customers into a single delivery. This solution reduces costs for customers who cannot provide full truckloads, increases efficiency by maximizing payload capacity, reduces the environmental impact of each shipment and supports multimodal integration by providing seamless transfers between road, rail and sea.

Chris Adams, Executive Vice President Eastern Europe at DP World, said, “This comprehensive end-to-end service is the cornerstone of DP World’s expansion strategy in Moldova. The group cargo line in Chisinau will help integrate Moldova into EU supply chains, simplifying trade for Moldovan businesses and making trade in Europe faster, cheaper and more sustainable.”

The operational control tower of DP World’s European network will be based in Bucharest. It will coordinate all elements of this end-to-end service, including collection services, first/last mile delivery, warehousing, customs brokerage and multimodal transportation. It will also develop advanced digital platforms for real-time management, predictive analytics and seamless communication.

The company already operates at the Port of Constanta, acting as a gateway for shipments from Asia and providing access to the Danube. It also operates the Aiud multimodal terminal, which moves cargo across Europe by road and rail.

DP World operates on six continents and has more than 100,000 employees. The company combines global infrastructure with local expertise to provide end-to-end supply chain solutions. From ports and terminals to maritime services, logistics and technology, DP World uses innovation to create more efficient transportation methods, minimizing disruption along the journey from the manufacturer to the customer’s doorstep.

In Europe, DP World employs more than 25,000 people in over 250 branches in 30 countries, offering customers access to 10 deepwater terminals, 14 inland terminals, 150 warehouses and 90 branches connected through its feeder and short sea transportation network.
