The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization announced the signing of an agreement on state aid for strategic investments proposed by Unitech. Of the total project cost of 63 million lei, the state’s contribution will amount to half – 31.4 million lei. Of this amount, about 7.8 million lei will be provided in the form of a grant, and 23.5 million lei in the form of tax incentives.
Founded in 2003, the company is engaged in the production of stainless steel equipment for the wine and food industry. Thanks to quality, innovations and adaptation to international requirements, Unitech operates not only on the national market, but also exports part of its production.
In 2023, the company produced products worth 139.95 million lei (7.16 million euros), with a profit of 12.59 million lei (640 thousand euros). The company employed 64 employees.
The new industrial complex with an area of about 13,000 square meters will allow expanding production capacities, diversifying the product range and integrating modern and sustainable engineering solutions.
The project envisages the introduction of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly production technologies, as well as obtaining international certifications for new product lines.
The new complex will be built between May 2025 and December 2026 and will create at least 20 direct jobs, bringing up to 5 million lei annually to the state budget through taxes and duties. It is expected that after its launch, Unitech’s annual turnover will exceed 10 million euros.
“For us, this investment is a step into the future. We will be able to meet the growing demand for modern and quality equipment. We are proud to contribute to the development of the food and wine industry in Moldova and to become a reliable supplier on international markets,” said Ion Cirbulec, founder and CEO of the company.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor said that the planned support from the state is not a one-time act, but part of a new strategy.
“We continue to support investments that accelerate Moldova’s industrialization, reduce dependence on imports and open up export opportunities. Unitech is a prime example of how a local company with a vision can make a regional and international impact. Thanks to the state aid mechanism, we are transforming ambitious ideas into real infrastructure and stable and well-paid jobs,” said Doina Nistor.
The signed agreement is part of the state aid mechanism established by Government Resolution No. 875/2024, which provides financial support to companies investing in strategic sectors. The current formula offers 25% of the eligible amount in the form of a grant and 75% in the form of income tax exemption. Over the next three years, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization intends to support at least 150 investment projects through this scheme, with a total planned budget of 2 billion lei.
