It is a mechanical accessory encrusted with gold and diamonds, as a tribute to the House’s historic fleet of couriers.

While watches inspired by car culture are usually worn on the wrist, Louis Vuitton has gone down a rather curious path. Its latest creation is designed for the desktop.

The watch was designed by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton in collaboration with Swiss luxury watchmaker L’Epée 1839, writes carscoops.com. Although the design is not tied to a specific model, it strongly resembles the Citroen B10 vans of that era. These vehicles once transported Louis Vuitton leather suitcases to customers throughout France, while also serving as a traveling advertising platform.

The price of a real car

“Limited edition” reflected in the price – the accessory will cost 650,000 euros. Only 15 copies have been produced.

The cost at the level of a brand new Lamborghini Revuelto is due to the materials and quality of work. Although the prestigious name on the case also plays a big role.

The Camionnette Edition Limitee has a gold-plated metal case carefully hand-set with 1,695 diamonds totaling 41.44 carats.

Diamonds cover the polished grille, headlights and roof edges, while red and orange sapphires replace the taillights. However, the centerpiece of the 7kg model is a 0.51-carat LV Monogram diamond set directly on the radiator.

Under the hood, two rotating cylinders display the time in hours and minutes. In the cockpit, a ticking balance wheel gives access to the mechanical heart: the hand-wound Calibre MV.7417/101 movement, which provides an eight-day power reserve. To keep the watch running, the owner must wind it manually with a gold-plated steel key.

This instrument is designed in the style of vintage manual winding mechanisms and is housed in a miniature Louis Vuitton chest neatly hidden in the back of a truck. The tiny chest is crafted from authentic Monogram canvas, wood and brass, in keeping with the brand’s travel tradition.

Economy version

For those whose budget doesn’t allow for a supercar-style desk clock, there is also an “economy” version of the Camionnette at a much lower price point.

This version retains the same mechanical construction and design intent, but still costs an impressive, albeit relatively modest 68,000 euros. Instead of precious metals and stones, it has a lightweight aluminum and steel case in a saffron blue color scheme that references Louis Vuitton’s historic palette.
