As agro-marketing expert Iurie Rizha notes, in Moldova the season of new crop rapeseed exports usually starts in July. The seasonal peaks of external supplies of this commodity fall in July-September, and in some years also in November-February. In the last five-year period, Moldova shipped more rapeseed to foreign markets than in July this year only in July 2023 (about 100 thousand tons). In other years, July shipments of this commodity were significantly smaller – in the range of 18-38 thousand tons.
The average invoice price of Moldovan export rapeseed in July this year – 8.99 lei/kg. For comparison: in July 2024 – 8.74 lei/kg, in July 2023 – 7.54 lei/kg. The highest July price for rapeseed exported from Moldova was in 2022 – 12.63 lei/kg.
The leading five exporters of Moldovan rapeseed in July this year were Rusagro-Prim (17.2 thousand tons), Vadalex Grains (12.4 thousand tons), Orom-Impex (10.1 thousand tons), Agrostoc (6.5 thousand tons) and Global Farming International (5.5 thousand tons). The last of the listed companies is a part of Trans Oil group. Indirectly, this indicates that the launch of rapeseed processing at Floarea Soarelui SA (Balti), an oil and fats factory owned by this company, is at least postponed.
About 70% (almost 58,000 tonnes) of the new crop of rapeseed exported from Moldova in July was transported out of the country by road. The most popular road customs point was Giurgiulesti, with more than 37,000 tonnes, almost 45% of all external rapeseed shipments. Another 14,000 tonnes of this product (17%) was exported through the port of Giurgiulești.
The most important railway channel for the export of Moldovan rapeseed in July was the Etuleia customs point – 10,500 tonnes (about 13%).
Many market operators agree that road transport will remain the dominant method of delivering Moldovan agri-food products abroad throughout the 2025-26 marketing season.
