The competition for projects in this area started on January 13, 2026.

Last year, four similar projects provided TB screening and prevention services to more than three thousand people from several parts of the country. The overall goal of the initiatives was to reduce the burden of the disease through a comprehensive approach focused on early detection and effective diagnosis of TB, support inclusion of patients in treatment programs, increase awareness among risk groups and strengthen epidemiological vigilance.

The projects were implemented in Floresti, Singerei, Teleneşti, Ialoveni, Calarasi, Soldanesti, Criuleni and Dubasari districts.

Out of three thousand people examined, 146 were suspected of tuberculosis. Based on the results of additional tests, 27 cases were confirmed, and the patients were included in the treatment course. The results of the examinations were transmitted to primary health care facilities, and those with suspected TB or other pathologies were under the supervision of family physicians and phthisiopulmonologists.

In 2025, more than two million lei were allocated from the preventive measures fund for the implementation of these projects. The initiatives were implemented by the National Association of TB Patients of the Republic of Moldova “SMIT”, public organizations “Speranța Terii”, “AFI” and the Social Assistance Center “Casa Speranțelor”, selected following a competitive procedure by CNAM.
