These are the results of the first public tender organized by the Ministry of Energy. The winners are to build large wind and photovoltaic parks in Moldova with a total capacity of 165 MW.
“An eightfold increase in the share of renewable energy means not only security, but also large investments, new jobs and a cleaner environment for citizens,” said Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu.
For the construction of photovoltaic parks, 33 proposals were submitted, of which 24 were approved. And 8 bids were submitted for wind projects, all of which were accepted. State Secretary Carolina Novak said that these investments will be one of the biggest ever made in Moldova. And that all the winners for the installation of solar plants are local investors: “This demonstrates the maturity of our market and the ability to develop large-scale projects in-house,” she said.
The new projects will provide about 7.5% of annual electricity consumption and create about 400 jobs. The winners of the tender will sign 15-year contracts and guarantee the quality of the equipment used.
The Ministry of Energy promises to hold a new tender for the construction of wind parks in the fall.
