    In 2024, the total value of agricultural products produced in Moldova amounted to about 41.37 billion lei. This is 1% less as compared to 2023, and the decline with respect to 2021 is about 14.5%. Taking into account the inflation rate and fluctuations in prices for vegetable and animal products, the conclusion is obvious – in real terms, the value of agricultural products has decreased and the sector is stagnating.

    The National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) inspected 88 wineries in 2024 (82 in 2023) and 40 specialized warehouses (39 the year before). A total of 186 state control inspections were carried out, including 58 unannounced inspections, not counting participation in joint inspections with other bodies.

    For 2025, according to the Association “Union of Sugar Producers of RM” (UPZM), two Moldovan companies-operators of the sugar beet complex – Sudzucker Moldova and Moldova Zahăr – have contracted about 14 thousand hectares of agricultural land for sugar beet cultivation. Despite the drought and losses registered last year, sugar and sugar beet producers continue to invest in Moldovan agriculture.
