The discussion of the next stage of the work took place on May 27-28. The project is implemented by the General Directorate of Architecture, Urban Planning and Land Relations with funding from the municipal budget, with the participation of specialists from the Municipal Design Institute IMP “Chisinauproiect”, the National Association of Young Historians of Moldova and the Center for Urbanism.
During the discussion, the group of experts presented the methodology of the built heritage assessment, the results of data collection in the study sites, the specialists discussed the problems encountered and defined the directions for analyzing the urban landscape and historical-architectural patrimony.
The second stage was devoted to the actual development of the Historic-Architectural Reference Plan and the draft protection zones. Discussions revolved around updating the lists of historical, archaeological and public monuments, establishing criteria for delineating protection zones, and developing clear rules for different types of zones – from historic buildings and ensembles to urban landscapes and archaeological monuments. Such discussions contribute to the formation of a coherent strategy for the protection and improvement of Chisinau’s historical heritage.
The Historic-Architectural Reference Plan will be the starting point for the development of a zonal urban planning plan for the city center and further updating of the capital’s general plan.
