“TechZone Center is a step towards a qualitatively new level of industrial development. We are creating an infrastructure that allows companies to implement modern technologies, and people to get the competences in demand. For investors, this is a signal that Moldova is ready for more complex and high-tech projects,” said Marin Ciobanu, the chief administrator of FEZ “Balti”.
He noted for Logos Press that TechZone creates opportunities that were previously unavailable to many local manufacturers: training in CNC equipment, robotic systems, laser technologies, automation and modern plastic molding methods.
It is important to note that the Center will not only train specialists for FEZ resident enterprises, but also perform important socio-economic functions. TechZone will become a national platform for training professional staff for a variety of purposes:
- for local companies and transnational corporations – residents of RM;
- for potential investors, first of all transnational companies that are preparing to enter the Moldovan market;
- for personnel training according to the directions of the National Employment Agency (ANOFM);
- as a business incubator for start-ups;
- for vocational specialization of the National Army soldiers during their service.
Another important mission of the Center is to train and equip with modern knowledge specialists who will be able to become trainers and mentors in enterprises for young workers.
The realization of the project was made possible thanks to international partnership. The laboratories are equipped with the latest generation of equipment with the support of the German Development Agency GIZ. Reconstruction of the premises was carried out within the framework of USAID projects in cooperation with the governments of Sweden and Great Britain. The center occupies 2,000 square meters of space, with a total investment of more than 2 million euros.
“We expect TechZone to become a national center for technical training – the infrastructure that will allow Moldova to reduce the technological gap and increase its export potential,” said Marin Ciobanu. – The training center will work closely with industrial companies, providing them with personnel capable of mastering and adapting modern production processes”.
The opening of the center will bring together about 200 participants, including the country’s leadership and representatives of international business, for whom the availability of a skilled workforce remains one of the key factors in choosing a location for investment.
