The beneficiaries were selected following a competition organized by the UNDP project “Export Potential Development on the banks of the Dniester River” (AdTrade), funded by Sweden and the United Kingdom.
Each of the selected enterprises will receive up to $30,000 worth of equipment and services aimed at implementing energy efficiency and labor productivity measures. In addition, entrepreneurs will receive mentoring, training and coaching to optimize production processes and create new jobs.
The assistance received will be invested in key sectors such as improving fish production efficiency through advanced technology and renewable energy, shifting to a sustainable model in the HoReCa sector through the installation of solar panels, and developing eco-tourism through the construction of an eco-modular house for the winery.
In addition, the support provided by the UNDP/AdTrade project will contribute to the modernization of the production process in the food industry through the introduction of sustainable energy solutions, the use of solar energy on farms, the expansion of production capacity in the artisanal dairy sector and the promotion of organic agriculture to provide the market with natural and safe raw materials.
Three of the seven beneficiaries are women entrepreneurs. Among them is Elena Dronik, founder of a company specializing in the production of dried flowers for floristry and decoration, which provides the market with high-quality raw materials.
“We believe in sustainable development and care for the environment, so it is especially important for us to utilize ecological resources. Thanks to the funding we received, we will be able to install photovoltaic panels and incorporate green energy into our production processes, which will not only increase our efficiency but also reduce our impact on nature. In particular, these investments will allow us to significantly increase our production volumes, save natural resources through the use of environmental technologies, create 3-4 permanent and 10 seasonal jobs for people from socially vulnerable groups”, – said Elena during the ceremony of awarding support certificates, which took place in Tiraspol on April 2.
Since its launch in 2019, the AdTrade project has already supported 89 other entrepreneurs from both banks of the Nistru River in launching and expanding their businesses, including by encouraging them to implement energy-efficient technologies.
