The appearance of Politehnica-UTM in the list of Super League participants was the result of the rebranding of Saksan. Earlier, the club from Ceadir Lunga won the second entry to the Super League 2025/26 season after winning the Ligue 1 playoffs. The first was the club Dacia-Buiucani, which won the transition tournament.

The roster of Politehnica-UTM is formed from young pupils of Radu Rebez’s Football Academy, who represented Saksan in the previous Ligue 1 season. According to the authors of the idea, the rebranding symbolizes the beginning of a new stage and demonstrates the desire to promote Moldovan soccer. The club plans to attract experienced players, who will strengthen the squad and allow them to compete with other Super League participants for higher places.

The formation of “Politehnica-UTM” was the result of fruitful cooperation between the founder of the Football Academy, former Moldovan national team midfielder Radu Rebez, who actively develops children’s and youth soccer, with one of the first soccer agents in Moldova, Nicolae Pirnău, and businessman Andrei Zolotco, who has experience in managing a number of European clubs.

The stadium in Suruceni village (Ialoveni district), where Sfântul Gheorghe used to host matches, will be the club’s home ground. In the future, Politehnica-UTM will move to Chisinau, when it finds a stadium that meets the licensing conditions.

The club will start its journey in the 2025/26 Super League season with a home meeting with the reigning Moldovan vice-champion Sheriff (Tiraspol). The Moldovan Football Federation announced that the season will start on June 21, at the moment only the schedule of the first round has been announced.

Politehnica-UTM last participated in the Moldovan championship in 2008, after which it was relegated from the National Division (ND). The club traces its history back to 1964, when it was called Hajduk and represented Hincesti (then Cotovsk) in regional competitions. In 1999 it was renamed “Haiducul-Sporting”, and the following year it received the right to play in the top division. In 2001 the club moved to Chisinau, was renamed to “Politehnica”, a year later the abbreviation of the Technical University of Moldova was added to the name. In 2008, the club finished last, 11th in the ND season. In July of the same year it was announced that the club was disbanded.
