Thus, the program covers 353 projects that are under implementation or preparation. In the coming days, the mayors of the localities included in the new group will be invited to sign financing contracts, after which they will be able to initiate public procurement to select contractors.
This was announced by Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Volodymyr Bolya at a press conference on 3 December.
He detailed the strategic priorities of this initiative, aimed at accelerating the development of local communities and reducing inequality between urban and rural areas through large-scale infrastructure investments.
During the event, the minister emphasized the importance of meeting the EU standards of living in Moldova, not only through legislative reforms, but also through concrete projects that will improve the daily life of citizens. The program focuses on three main directions: the extension of water supply and sewerage networks, the repair of local and regional roads, and the improvement of the energy efficiency of public buildings in villages and towns.
As a result of already launched and newly included projects, it is expected that 41 km of local roads of district and municipal importance, 294 km of public roads and streets within settlements, 120 km of pedestrian paths and sidewalks to schools, kindergartens, medical institutions and other public service facilities will be built or reconstructed;
In total, more than 880,000 people in 561 settlements, as well as more than 2,000 public institutions will be able to use more modern, safe and comfortable roads and access routes.
The total cost of the projects is about 1.69 billion lei, of which 1.5 billion lei will come from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development. The contribution of local public authorities will amount to about 190 million lei.
At the news conference, the participants in the event were also given up-to-date information about the “European Yard” program. All the projects selected for the program are already included in the Single Program Document for 2025-2027.
Currently, 50 projects are under implementation, and 6 are undergoing repeated procurement procedures. At the same time, on the additional list of 32 yards announced earlier, this week public procurement for the selection of contractors begins. In the next period, design procedures will be launched for another 150 yards, which will allow work to begin as early as February 2026, as soon as weather conditions permit.
