This was announced by the Director of the Center Anna Revenko at the National Forum of Pedagogical Personnel.
According to the conclusions of the measurements carried out at 12-month intervals – spring 2024 – spring 2025, the national pride, the pride to be a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, reached the level of 94%, compared to 89% in 2024. The trust in the state’s ability to provide necessary public services has also increased – up to 70%, compared to 64% last year. A higher level of trust in mutual assistance within the community was also recorded: 79% vs. 68%.
“But we also face a big challenge – only about 40% believe they can influence what is happening and how Moldova functions. Trust in democratic elections also remains extremely low: 41%. This means passivity, uncertainty about the future, unwillingness to participate and, as a consequence, a very high level of lack of responsibility – both individual and collective,” Revenco said.
In her opinion, “this is not just a statistic, it is a stern message and warning: without a sense of responsibility and personal participation, our citizens – both the older generation and the youth – risk turning into passive spectators instead of being active participants in our future.”
Dan Perciun, Minister of Education and Research, believes that Moldova does not pay enough attention to education from the perspective of national security. In his opinion, it is necessary to “more actively promote a healthy patriotism based on our traditions and achievements, to foster confidence in our own abilities, in the state of Moldova, in our leaders and institutions”.
Addressing the teachers, President Maia Sandu said that it is necessary to have a serious discussion on the subject of civic education.
“And I hope it will take place. But I want to emphasize that this mission, this conversation about values, this commitment to educate young people in the spirit of values enshrined in the Constitution, does not apply only to the subject “Civic Education”. It refers to the school as a whole and to each of you,” Maia Sandu said at the pedagogical forum “Republic of Moldova: Common Values and Common Future through the Prism of the Education System”.
