June inflation did not enter summer mode

The annual inflation rate was 8.2 percent in June, up 0.2 percent from May and 5.2 percent from the end of last year, Logos Press reported.

The annual inflation rate was most influenced by food prices (10% growth) and consumer services (+14.6%). Average consumer prices for non-food products for the year increased by a modest 2%.

In June 2025, compared to May, there was an increase in average consumer prices by about 0.2%. At the same time, for food products they decreased by about 0.3% in June, but the inflationary pressure of seasonal goods was more noticeable.

In June 2025 as compared with May among non-food products, the most pronounced growth of average consumer prices was observed for fuel and motor fuel – by 1.4% (including diesel fuel – by 3.7%, gasoline – by 2.4%), construction materials for the current repair of housing – by 0.7%, clothing – by 0.3%.

The prices for fruit, fuel and lubricants, passenger transportation and meat are the leaders in terms of their impact on monthly inflation. Water supply and public catering services are also at the top of the list.

Monthly inflation in Moldova was at the level recorded in Switzerland and Italy, and below the inflation rate in Turkey (1.4%), Estonia (0.9%), Slovenia, Macedonia and Iceland (0.8% each), Spain (0.6%), Sweden and Austria (0.5% each), Belgium (0.4%), Lithuania, France, Czech Republic and Croatia (0.3% each),
