
Russia sold at least $170.7 million worth of chocolate abroad in the first four months of 2025, according to an analysis of data from the UN Comtrade platform by RIA Novosti.
The study showed that the main buyers were the countries of the near abroad. The leader in terms of purchases was Kazakhstan – it imported $78.3 million worth of Russian chocolate, followed by Azerbaijan ($23.4 million), then Uzbekistan ($21.4 million), Kyrgyzstan ($14.7 million) and Georgia ($8 million).
Belarus could also be among the leaders, but it has not published import statistics since 2022. China became the sixth buyer – by $7.4 mln.
Also in the top were Armenia ($5.7 million), Serbia ($3 million), Moldova ($2.4 million or 40.5 million lei) and Germany ($2.1 million).
In Moldova, such brands as Alenka, Vdokhovnost, Babaevsky and Krupskaya Factory are particularly popular.
The expanded list of 15 countries also includes the USA ($970 thousand), Israel ($790 thousand), Saudi Arabia ($426 thousand), Latvia ($418 thousand) and Bulgaria ($355 thousand).
The greatest growth of interest to Russian chocolate was recorded in Bulgaria – the volume of purchases increased 4.1 times. Saudi Arabia (1.8 times), Kazakhstan, Serbia and Azerbaijan (1.3 times) also showed a noticeable increase.
According to the results of the whole 2024, the export of Russian chocolate reached $850 million, which is 8% more than a year earlier, reported in the Center “Agroexport” under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
